This month's departmental spotlight by Endria Richardson features A.G.E.S. Administrative Director Sandra Richmond, who is retiring in June 2025.

Who do you love? Writers, thinkers, artists, parents, friends—who has inspired you to be in the world the way that you are?

A better question is who don't I love! I love everyone...there isn't a human being I can't find loveable or huggable or beautiful. The rando road rager is as loveable as a newborn, to me. I love writers, thinkers, artists, parents, friends, and most of all, my wonderful kinfolks. I will say, however, that I don't like everyone.
Where do you come from? Is there a place that feels like home?
I'm a native Berkeleyan and I feel most at home anywhere in my birth city!
What are you reading (or watching, or listening to) lately?
I am reading a paranormal series of books that follows the antics of a band of vampiric brothers and their exploits in the city of Caldwell, New York. I love a good escape from the troubles of the real world. There are 26 books in the series and I am so excited about that. I have 14 to go and I have been known to re-read a series or two.
What do you want to do with your time when you retire this year? Do you have plans?
Oh, so many, many things. I want to learn how to play my birthday banjo - it's been in the case for a few years and I will now have time to take lessons. I'm registered in Contra Costa College's Pastry Certification Program for spring 26. I LOVE to cook but baking is a little daunting for me. I would love to learn how to make bread that doesn't double as a doorstop! I plan to travel to France in August to witness my son's wedding. I want to wash my windows on a regular-degular week day, stand in line at the Cheeseboard, fulfill my COSTCO needs during the week, and maybe walk for miles just because.
Is there anything else you’d like your colleagues to know about you?
I will miss this work and this community. I am better because of all I encounter.
