Darlène Dubuisson, Assistant Professor of Caribbean Studies in the Department of African American Studies at UC Berkeley, has been awarded the 2024 SLACA Annual Book Prize for her book Reclaiming Haiti's Futures: Returned Intellectuals, Placemaking, and Radical Imagination (Rutgers University Press, 2024). The Society for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology (SLACA), a section of the American Anthropological Association, awards the prize to recognize "distinguished anthropological work that advances understanding of the Americas in innovative and potentially transformative ways" (SLACA 2025).
