The Department of African American Studies offers students a bachelor of arts degree as well as a minor in African American studies. The curriculum focuses on Africa and the African diaspora, with particular attention paid to the life and culture of the populations of African descent in North America and the Carribbean. There is also some focus on populations of African descent in Latin America and Europe.
